More information:

The School recognises that the software industry is undergoing fundamental change as it transitions beyond agile, experiences an ever increasing pace in innovation and addresses new challenges in the drive towards sustainability. These dramatic changes will have a significant impact on the practice of software engineering and the School is therefore seeking to expand its activity in this area. Candidates whose research begins from the perspective of software practitioners in any domain of application are particularly encouraged to apply.  These include, for example, DevOps, infrastructure as code, start-up engineering, secure software development, AI for software engineering, cloud engineering, scientific software engineering, psychology of programming, requirements engineering and quality assurance.

The School has begun a major programme of engagement with the software industry through both our new graduate apprenticeship programme and our plans to partner with and support the growth of technology focused start-ups across Scotland. The School sees this as a significant opportunity to develop research on the practice of Software Engineering in collaboration with a wide range of practitioners.

For informal enquiries, please contact Tim Storer  ([email protected]). Application Deadline is 17th October, 2022.
