This special interest group provides a forum for existing RSE leaders to support each other, and for aspiring leaders to gain experience and network. We have multiple opportunities to engage with the community over the coming months, and also need volunteers to help with our activities.

September RSE Leaders and Aspiring Leaders Meeting

A satellite event of RSECon2026, this afternoon meeting on 8th September will particularly focus on supporting aspiring leaders in career progression, with many interactive elements sharing experiences from established leaders. Register now to attend the event.

Host a meeting of the SIG

We aim to hold two meetings per year, and rotate hosting around the community, and we need volunteers to host and help organise them. Organising a Meeting provides an opportunity for leaders to gain organisational experience and contribute to the RSE community. You get to shape the format and agenda for the event. Logistical support will be provided by the RSE Leaders Network SIG steering group. Further guidance on what this involves is online. Please contact the SIG steering group if you are interested.

Join the SIG

If you are not already part of the network, we welcome all established and aspiring leaders to join! You simply need to sign up for the mailing list. If you have any issues joining, please get in touch with the SIG steering group and we can add you to the mailing list manually. We also encourage you to join the #leaders Slack channel on the RSE Slack workspace, where leaders and aspiring leaders can discuss, share experiences and resources, network, and learn from each other.
