Gillian is a Relationship Manager within Research IT at the University of Manchester, which now has one of the largest RSE groups in the country. Her role is far-ranging and includes strategy formation and implementation, community building, user engagement and promotion of Research IT activities across the University. 

Previously, Gillian was the Programme Manager for the N8 Centre of Excellence for Computationally Intensive Research (N8 CIR), a centre designed to help researchers make the most of computational techniques and resources, as well as working for N8 HPC and the National Grid Service in the areas of user engagement, outreach and community building for over 15 years. 

Gillian’s main interests are in community building and reaching out to potential audiences in order to grow the community and to highlight the benefits that belonging to the society can bring.
