RSE Leaders Meetings

A Leaders meeting is an all day meeting where leaders of Research Software groups can come together to discuss confidentially the challenges and wins in their group and institution relating to RSEs and Research Software. The meetings are held twice a year.

Meetings can take different formats. Some meetings focus on one issue with the goal of producing a draft document for the community to refer to or there can be short presentations and then a series of breakout sessions for discussion. Best practice is often discussed along with ways to collaborate. The agenda gives plenty of time to network with other leaders during the breaks.

If you have questions that you want to ask other Leaders who may be experiencing or have experienced the same challenges, this is the meeting to attend.

RSE Leaders can volunteer to host a meeting and then gain the opportunity to create the agenda and chair the meeting. The host would need to provide a room large enough for 20-25 leaders with some breakout rooms. They would need to organise catering (arrival refreshments, lunch, afternoon refreshments). Hosts are encouraged to find some funding for these meetings internally but funds can be sought from the Society and are awarded on a case by case basis.

To volunteer to host a Leaders meeting, contact Lyndsey Ballantyne (L.Ballantyne at soton.ac.uk) RSE Community Manager. Lyndsey will help a leader host the meeting by letting the community know via Slack, Twitter and email about the possible dates, organise doodle polls and online registration forms.
