Ian was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2020. He recently retired (at the end of July 2020) after some 48 years working mainly in academia (much of it with The University of Manchester), but also industry, as a research software engineer and technical manager. His last post was as Acting Head of RSEs at The University of Manchester. He has also spent some time at Manchester’s Business School (now the Alliance Manchester Business School) working on change management and business process re-engineering. As well as being a  Member of the Society of Research Software Engineering, Ian is a Chartered IT Practitioner (CITP, MBCS), via the British Computer Society (BCS), and holds a master’s degree in computation.
