RSE Stories

Welcome to RSE Stories, a collection of interviews and shared experiences from community members. These are intended to celebrate the diversity of people and roles within research software engineering, and to provide inspiration both to those starting their journey, and those developing along their current path.

We interview RSEs at various career levels and ask them how they’ve come to be in research software engineering. Read their inspiring interviews at the links below.

We’d love to hear about your RSE Story. If you are happy to share it with us you can submit it using this form. We’re also happy to chat to you in person or remotely, and later transcribe and edit your contribution. Please email [email protected]. However you share your story, you’ll have the chance to review it before it’s published and you we can publish your story with or without your name attached to it.

If you are at RSECon24 in Newcastle we’re also collecting RSE Stories in person this week during the breaks – come find us at the EDIA stall.

If you have previously shared a journey and wish it to be unpublished, please get in touch via email at [email protected].

In 2021, we ran a workshop on “The RSE Landscape – What is your RSE type and how do you want to develop it?”. Read the summary blog post here.
