The University of Bristol is recruiting 20+ new roles as part of building the new £225m Isambard-AI National AI Research Resource, which will be coming online in 2024.

The roles span three levels, with multiple opportunities available at each level:

A single job description at each level combines Research Software Engineering with Research Infrastructure Engineering, with the team being un-siloed and working together combining their skills across Sys/Net/Dev/Sec/ML/Ops and Research Software Engineering.

The roles are graded at K (£48k-£54k), L (£57k-£65k) and M (£72k-£85k), all with an additional skills based supplement.

Full time, part time and job sharing possible. Roles are open ended.

We are doing rolling recruitment so there is no closing date for applications. We will shortlist and interview in tranches (so ignore the 31st January end date, but do apply at your earliest convenience or get in touch if you are interested).

They are hybrid roles, so we do expect people to be based within travel distance of Bristol.

The roles come with flexible working, 35 hours with a blended approach to on-campus and home working.

There’s 40 days leave (25 days of your choice, plus 8 closure days plus bank holidays).

There’s paid leave for public duties and volunteering.

A career break scheme after 3 years of continuous service of up to 12 months.

Generous maternity, paid shared parental, adoption and surrogacy leave options. Care and dependent leave etc.

We very much welcome applications from everyone and aim to build a diverse, welcoming and inclusive team which will help drive the AI revolution in research and innovation.

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to help build a new national supercomputing centre from scratch, and to be at the forefront of the national-scale adoption of truly open AI
