Launch of a New Special Interest Group – Geoscience
Following the Birds of a Feather session at RSECon24, we have been working to establish a Special Interest Group for the numerous RSEs and related individuals working in the geoscience domain. We are delighted to announce that this has now been approved by the Society.
The group is open to anyone working or with an interest in RSE activity in this space.
We aim to provide a space for people to meet, form connections, share expertise, and collaborate. More details can be found on our webpage.
The community has a JISC mailing list that you can subscribe and can be found in #geoscience on the UKRSE slack space.
If you are interested in any of this please keep an eye out or get in touch.
CompMotifs: Hack the Sciences
Join us on 7-8 June for a two-day workshop-hackathon building visionary software tools for the computational sciences, at the Imperial College White City Campus.
We will have talks from computational researchers in chemistry, biology, physics, and neuroscience, as well as professional toolmakers in the sciences. This will be followed by 1.5 days of building new open source tools for science. Lunch and dinner will be provided.
We aim to build a friendly and helpful community of tool-oriented scientists and science-oriented toolmakers, and we are especially keen to welcome women and diverse backgrounds..
PyData London Conference
PyData is a community about data science, and their yearly conference has attendees from academia and industry. It’s a great way to get a view outside the academic bubble and pick up on new tools and techniques.
