The purpose and aim of this special interest group is to provide a forum for existing RSE leaders to support each other, to provide a forum for aspiring leaders to gain experience and network, to coordinate the gathering and maintenance of resources supporting both groups, and to be a clear entry point to the leaders community.
Although based in and primarily focused on the UK RSE community, the SIG welcomes leaders and aspiring leaders from around the world, including those leading wider RTP teams. Many of our events support virtual participation and there is a robust conversation on our Slack channel and mailing list.
Get involved
We welcome all established and aspiring leaders to join the SIG. To join, you simply need to sign up for the mailing list. If you have any issues joining, please get in touch with the SIG steering group and we can add you to the mailing list manually.
We also encourage you to join the #leaders Slack channel on the RSE Slack workspace, where leaders and aspiring leaders can discuss, share experiences and resources, network, and learn from each other.
We run a Slack channel specifically for current RSE group leaders. If you would like to join, please register your interest here.
The RSE Leaders Network aims to host at least two events a year. One of those is usually a satellite event at RSECon and is organised alongside the conference. The other event is hosted by an RSE Leader at their institution. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss topics of shared interest with other leaders and aspiring leaders and contribute to resources for the community. A list of past meetings can be found on the RSE Leaders Meetings page.
If you would like to volunteer to organise a meeting at your institution, please email the Steering Group at [email protected].
