Society AGM Report 2026
The Society of Research Software Engineering held our AGM at RSECon26 in Sheffield on Thursday 10th September 2026. In this blog post, we summarise the key outcomes of the AGM, including the trustees who stood down or were elected to the board, and a special resolution to amend the constitution.
We have also included a recording of the meeting, along with the slides that were used, which you can see below.
Resolutions
The AGM also allows members to put forward resolutions, which can then be voted on by our members. This year, we had one resolution.
Amendment to the Constitution
We held a special resolution at the AGM to vote on a minor but important change to the Society’s Constitution. Following the vote, we updated our constitution to increase the maximum number of trustees from 14 to 15, allowing us to appoint an additional trustee to the board this year.
Trustee Elections
Each year, a third of the trustees must stand down, and a new batch of trustees is elected.
This year, five trustees reached the end of their term and stood down:
Six new trustees were (re-)elected, following the change to the constitution:
- Mike Simpson (re-elected)
- Christine Stawitz
- Laura Crawford
- Isabel Fenton
- Ryan Pepper
- Stephen Thompson
Annual Report
Each year, the Trustees produce an annual report on the Society and its activities over the last 12 months.
